The Literature 5 Activities Book Expansion Pack is designed for families using an Advanced 5 Reading Plan. It is also an essential resource for families building a customized Literature 5 course using selected titles from Kolbe’s offerings. The Expansion Pack provides discussion questions, reading checks, vocabulary practice, written responses, and creative projects.

This is an additional activities book. Students following either Advanced 5 Reading Plan use the regular Literature 5 Activities Book for shared core work and this Expansion Pack for activities connected to their additional assigned titles.

Eight Additional Reading Selections

Students deepen comprehension and literary analysis through classic fiction, animal stories, scientific fantasy, historical narrative, and lives of the saints.

The saint-biography units encourage students to consider each saint’s life, virtues, faith, and example through guided discussion and structured projects.

Course Information

Literature 5 deepens comprehension and introduces more sustained literary analysis through classic fiction, historical narrative, adventure, animal stories, epic fantasy, poetry, and the lives of saints. Students develop mature reading habits through guided discussion, regular reading checks, and written responses that support clear, organized thinking.

Poetry study using Classic Poems Across the Ages is integrated throughout the year and extends beyond recitation to imagery, structure, meaning, and patterns of language. Students also complete structured journal work, paragraph practice, and projects.

The course supports adaptable pacing and multiple reading plans. Use the Course Plan to confirm assigned books and weekly work because titles and pacing vary by plan. Families may change plans if needed, but changing at a unit or quarter break is recommended to avoid repeating material or disrupting the sequence.

Each Advanced 5 plan combines shared core readings from the regular Activities Book with selected titles from this Expansion Pack.

Literature 5 Reading Paths

Families following the Elementary 5 plan use the regular Activities Book. Advanced 5 families use the regular Activities Book plus this Expansion Pack.
