Classical Word Roots introduces even younger elementary students to the building blocks of the English language. Introduction to Greek and Latin roots at a young age is important for an intuitive understanding of language. In this course, students will not only gain assistance in expanding their vocabulary but also practice recognizing parts of speech, synonyms, and other aspects of Grammar. Each week, students will learn a small set of new classical roots and definitions and then explore a variety of common derivatives. Weekly cross-disciplinary lessons will help students understand how Greek and Latin have affected our understanding of Math, Religion, Science, Art, History, and more. This course is a great way for young students to begin their study of classical languages before they are ready to dive into the more complicated forms and translation work.
