Reading is the foundation of an education, and the English B workbook gives homeschool students the skills needed to begin a lifelong love of reading. As part of Kolbe’s phonics-based English program, this 2nd semester workbook builds on the skills learned in the 1st semester of Kindergarten English. It includes exercises in:
- Phonemic awareness: Recognizing the letter sounds present in different words.
- Phonics: Sounding out words by blending letter sounds.
- Sight words: Recognizing high-frequency words without the need to sound them out each time.
- Reading CVC (consonant-short-vowel-consonant) words and CVCe (consonant-vowel-consonant-silent-e) words.
- Reading stories comprised of simple sentences.
- Writing and dictation practice.
- Story sequencing.
- Verbal storytelling using classic art and Catholic images.
Kolbe Academy's New Kindergarten Program
Kolbe Academy’s Kindergarten Catholic homeschool program introduces young children to the wonders of the world around them!
